AECOM backs into $23.6M aircraft parking apron in Australia

ConDig (21-May-18). Engineering group AECOM has landed a $23.6 million fixed-price contract for the construction of an aircraft parking apron at the Royal Australian Air Force Base, in Darwin.

Under the deal with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the Los Angeles, California-based company will also build hydrant fuel pits and airfield lighting at the base. Supporting facilities include the installation of a stormwater collection and treatment system, jet blast deflectors and construction of an asphalt access drive.

The contract also contains one unexercised option, which if executed would increase the cumulative contract value to $24.1 million.

Work will be performed in Darwin and is expected to be completed by October 2019.

Last year, AECOM said it was looking to hire 3,000 qualified professionals and technical experts throughout the US and Canada amid a major uptick in infrastructure projects.
