CH2M Hill bags $14.7M hurricane Harvey cleanup deal

ConDig (22-Sept-17).  Design, engineering and construction group CH2M Hill Constructors Inc. has landed a $14.7 million cost-plus deal to repair multiple buildings at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas, that were damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

Under the deal with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, the Meridian, Colorado-based company will replace roofs, repair roof decking and seal roof penetrations.

The contract also includes correction of architectural, structural, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, fire protection, electrical deficiencies and any other incidental related work as found due to the impact of the hurricane.

Work on the project is expected to be completed by September 2019.

The Navy said that three tenders were received for the contract.

Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area earlier this month and caused widespread flooding. Estimates for the cost of Hurricane Harvey’s damage range from $65 billion to $190 billion and could end up being one of the most expensive disasters in US history.

The destruction from Hurricane Irma, which caused widespread damage across Florida this month, could cost between $50 billion and $100 billion.
