Hensel Phelps secures $74.9M deal to build US army dental clinic in Hawaii

ConDig (09-Feb-18).  General contractor and construction manager Hensel Phelps Construction

Co. has bagged a $74.9 million deal to build a behavioral health and dental clinic addition for the US army at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Under the two phase design-build construction project with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Greeley, Colorado-based company will construct a 77,000 square feet and three story high building. It will connect to an existing lanai/patio on Building 673 via an exterior covered walkway.

Supporting facilities include utilities, site improvements and a new electrical substation with a switchgear building.

The project is expected to be completed in February, 2020.

The US army said that eight bids were received for the tender via the internet.

In October, Hensel landed a $54.5 million firm-fixed-price contract to build a powertrain facility and central energy plant at the Naval Air Station, in Corpus Christi, Texas, in January.

The company and Eutaw Construction Co also secured contracts with a combined value of $226 million for the expansion of Nashville International Airport.
