LB Civil Construction secures $10.8M road deal in California national park

ConDig (24-May-17).  LB Civil Construction has won a $10.8 million contract to revamp a section of roadway within Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains.

The San Diego-based company outbid Maloney Construction and Agee Construction, both also California-based companies.

Work is expected to start this month and is scheduled to finish in October 2018.

Under the deal with the Department of Transportation (DoT), LB Civil Construction will reconstruct about 2.4 miles of roadway in the park and build a 9,800 square foot reinforced concrete retaining wall, which will be between 4 to 14 feet high.

DoT said that construction phasing, temporary traffic control, and timely completion of construction will be crucial to minimize disruptions to park visitors throughout construction.
