Skanska pockets $101M highway deal in California

ConDig (10-Jun-19).  Swedish developer and contractor Skanska has inked a $101 million contract to build a four-lane highway with freeway connectors on State Route 905 in San Diego, California.

Under the deal with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Skanska will construct two freeway-to-freeway flyover bridges that will connect three highways, as well as a 1.25-mile green field extension to the east toward the future port-of-entry.

Construction work on the project is slated to start this month and is set for completion in September 2021.

The project features 20,000 cubic yards of structural concrete, 40,000 cubic yards of concrete paving, 35,000 tons of asphalt and 1.1 million cubic yards of earthwork.

It is located in Otay Mesa and is one of three ports of entry in the San Diego-Tijuana Mexico metropolitan region.

In April, Skanska secured a $88 million contract to revamp an industrial manufacturing facility in the Midwest. It also netted a $69 million deal to demolish and replace Lakeridge Junior High School in Oregon.

Skanska inked a $57 million deal to rebuild the headquarters of global manufacturer Jabil Inc in St. Petersburg, Florida.

It followed a $45 million deal to build and renovate schools in Ohio secured by the contractor in March.

Skanska also unveiled that it had landed a $48 million contract to build a manufacturing facility in the western region of the US.
