ConDig (05-Aug-26) – Tutor Perini Corporation subsidiary Lunda Construction has been awarded a contract valued at about $54.7 million to construct new bridges and carry out interchange improvements as part of the I-41/WIS 441 System Interchange reconstruction project in Outagamie County, Wisconsin.

The contract includes the construction of the interchange’s two signature flyover bridges, comprising a 21-span, 3,182-ft structure and a 9-span, 1,072-ft structure. Both bridges will combine prestressed concrete girders in the approach spans with 72-inch steel plate girders spanning the I-41 mainline and associated ramp crossings.

Lunda’s scope of work also includes constructing retaining walls throughout the interchange, widening and replacing the deck of Wisconsin State Highway 441 over County Highway OO, and demolishing the existing interchange structures crossing Interstate 41.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is reconstructing the junction into a three-level system interchange designed to improve safety and traffic flow. The upgraded interchange will feature ramps engineered for speeds of up to 55 mph and incorporate updated design standards intended to increase capacity along one of northeast Wisconsin’s busiest transportation corridors.

Construction of the interchange is scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2029. Once complete, the project is expected to provide a higher-capacity connection between I-41 and WIS 441, reducing congestion and improving long-term traffic movements for Appleton and the surrounding Fox Cities region.

The $54.7 million award will be added to Tutor Perini’s backlog in the third quarter of 2026.
