What the signal is telling us
Construction Dig’s Highway & Bridge indicator tracks the value and number of qualifying US highway and bridge construction awards. Historical testing identified the strongest relationship with official highway construction spending at roughly a nine-month lead. The indicator is now being tested prospectively in real time.

Award value and award-count momentum contribute to the signal, while unusually large awards are capped so a single megaproject cannot dominate the reading. Historical testing suggested the strongest relationship at roughly a nine-month lead. The methodology is now undergoing prospective validation; this page will publish the live track record as official outcomes become available.
