Con Dig (05-Oct-26) — Skanska has secured a $110 million contract from the Renton School District to construct a new high school in Renton, Washington, adding to a fresh wave of US education work announced by the contractor.
The three-story Renton High School will span approximately 350,000 sq ft and provide capacity for 1,600 students.
The campus will include classrooms alongside Career and Technical Education, art, science and elective learning spaces. Plans also include health and special-services facilities, community areas, a library, cafeteria, commons and gymnasiums.
Outdoor facilities will include a lighted baseball and softball field and a practice football and soccer field.
Construction has already begun, with completion scheduled for fall 2029. Skanska said the $110 million contract will be included in its US order bookings for the third quarter of 2026.
The contractor separately announced a $78 million contract amendment with an existing client for another education project in the Western US. That project will replace an existing school on the same site, with work already underway and completion expected in 2029. Skanska has not disclosed the client or precise location.
The two announcements represent a combined $188 million of education construction work for Skanska.
Why it matters: The awards add another $188 million to Skanska’s US education workload, while the Renton project provides a significant new public-school development for the Seattle-area construction pipeline.
