Bidding heats up for $15M+ Glenn Highway revamp in Alaska

ConDig (12-May-17).  Six contractors are fighting it out for a $15-20 million deal to upgrade a section of Glenn Highway in Matanuska Susitna, Alaska.

Great Northwest Fairbanks, Wolverine Supply Inc, Cruz Construction, QAP General Contractors, Granite Construction Co and Kiewit have all returned tenders for the project.

The contract involves removing the existing light-weight concrete deck wedge on the Chickaloon Bridge, installing a transition rail and applying a waterproofing membrane followed by a 4-Inch asphalt overlay on the bridge deck. It also includes grading, base, paving and safety features.

Work on the project, which is located about 30 miles north east of Palmer, is scheduled to finish in the summer of next year.
