Skanska wins $136m Northeast US railroad improvements contract

Con Dig (09-Oct-26) — Skanska has signed a $136 million (approximately SEK 1.3 billion) contract with an unnamed public client for railroad improvements in the northeastern US. Work has already begun, with completion expected in December 2029. The company said the contract will be included in its third-quarter 2026 US order bookings. Skanska has not disclosed the precise location or further scope details.

Ocean Aviation breaks ground on $67m Miami Executive Airport campus

Ocean Aviation has broken ground on a $67 million private aviation campus at Miami Executive Airport, with design-build delivery led by Lemartec and Schenkel Shultz as design partner. The October 7 groundbreaking marks the start of development on 40 acres under a long-term ground lease. Plans include up to 400,000 sq ft of hangars, a terminal, fuel farm, taxi lane and ramp infrastructure, plus a new home for the Wings Over Miami Air Museum. Miami-Dade County estimates the project will support about 2,900 construction jobs.

Caterpillar introduces five compact machines for confined jobsites

Caterpillar has launched five new compact equipment models, including the TUL100 compact utility loader, 253 compact track loader, 301 CR micro excavator and 302.4 and 302.6 mini excavators. The machines are designed for smaller sites and confined-space applications and will be demonstrated at Equip Exposition in Louisville later this month. Clark County advances $43.45m airport parking garage contract

Clark County’s October 6 aviation agenda identifies Bomel Construction as the recommended awardee for a new multilevel employee parking garage at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, with a contract amount not to exceed $43.45 million. The scope includes elevators, security and vehicle-control systems, shade structures, signage, landscaping and surveillance technology. The agenda calls for contract execution subject to required bonds.

Bergen County breaks ground on 45,000-sq-ft multigenerational care facility

Bergen County and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center have broken ground on a 45,000-sq-ft facility in Paramus, New Jersey, combining childcare, physician offices and services for older residents. Financing is being arranged through the Bergen County Improvement Authority. Construction is expected to finish by the end of 2027, with opening targeted for 2028 subject to approvals.

Veritas breaks ground on 866-acre Liberty Hills community in Anna, Texas

Veritas Communities has marked the groundbreaking of Liberty Hills, an 866-acre master-planned development in Anna, Texas, west of US Highway 75. The project is planned for more than 1,800 homes alongside retail, dining, amenities and open space, with home sales expected to start in early 2027.
