DOT issues presolicitation for $20M California road upgrade

ConDig (11-Jul-17).  The Department of Transportation (DOT) has issued a presolicitation for the revamp of Buchanan road in Tuolumne County, California, about 10 miles east of Sonora.

The contract, which is expected to cost between $15-20 million, is set to be advertised this fall, with construction slated to start in the spring of next year. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2019.

Under the deal, work will involve upgrading the first 0.6 miles of Buchanan road starting at the intersection with Carter Street, reconstructing the next 1.9 miles to the intersection with Buchanan mine road.

It will also feature replacing the Buchanan Mine Road Bridge with a new curved, pre-stressed concrete bridge.

The DOT said it is a two season project with a winter shutdown period.

A presolicitation notice helps government agencies determine if there are qualified vendors to perform the scope of work under offer.
