Five contractors fly off with $350M Air Force roadway revamp in Alaska

ConDig (14-May-20) The US Air Force has selected five contractors to share in a $350 million deal to upgrade airfields at five military bases in Alaska.

COLASKA Inc; HC Contractors Inc; Paving Products Inc; Great Northwest Inc and Granite Construction Co were appointed to the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity multiple award contract for airfield and roadway paving and striping.

Under the deal, the companies will provide plant, labor, supervision, equipment and materials necessary to repair, maintain and construct roads, parking lots, airfields and associated incidental work.

The work will be carried out at Eielson Air Force Base; Fort Wainwright; Fort Greely; Clear Air Force Station and 168th Air National Guard property, all in Alaska.

The contracts include options that, if exercised, will mean the work would be completed in April 2027.

These awards are the result of a competitive acquisition and five offers were received, according to the Pentagon.

“Our Alaska team is pleased and honored to expand our partnership with the U.S. Air Force with this multiple award, multi-year contract,” said Derek Betts, vice president of Granite’s Alaska operations.

“Safety and security are fundamentals of our work and essential when working within an active military base which makes this a great fit for our team.”
