Granite snags $22M highway upgrade contract in California

ConDig (22-Feb-19).  Civil contractor and construction materials producer Granite Construction Inc has landed a $22 million deal to revamp Highway 1 in Santa Cruz, California.

Under the deal with the California Department of Transportation, the Watsonville, California-based contractor will replace an old metal beam guard railing with new concrete barriers, install overhead sign structures, repair overcrossing deck surfaces and repave the highway with rubberized asphalt.

Construction work on the project, which is from the North Aptos Underpass to Junction Route 9, is slated to start in April and is expected to be completed in December.

In December, Granite secured a $50 million highway revamp contract in Silver Springs, Nevada.
