ConDig (01-Aug-19).  Kansas City, Missouri-based contractor JE Dunn Construction has snagged a $158 million deal to revamp the Cadet Chapel at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Under the deal, the company will repair the building envelope, protect exposed facility interiors/artifacts and dispose of hazardous materials. It will also clean and replace historical colored glass and replace interior lighting and controls. The scope of work includes the installment of new fire protection system and life safety upgrades.

Work on the project is expected to be completed by November 1, 2022.

The Cadet Chapel is both the most recognizable building at the US Air Force Academy and the most visited man-made tourist attraction in Colorado, according to the Air Force. The aluminum, glass and steel structure features 17 spires that rise 150 feet into the sky.
