Lane Construction and Security Paving secure $672.9M California highway contract

ConDig (20-Aug-18).  A joint venture between Lane Construction Corp. and Security Paving Co, Inc. has driven off with a $672.9 million design-build contract for the I-10 Corridor Express Lane project in California.

Cheshire, Connecticut-based Lane Construction said the project involves designing and constructing 11 miles of two express lanes in each direction of I-10 from the Los Angeles/San Bernardino County line to east of the I-10/I-15 interchange.

Construction is slated to start by the end of this year and completion is expected in the first half of 2023.

Lane said its contract share is valued at $404 million and consolidates the group’s activities on the West Coast after completing the Central Subway of San Francisco’s metro and is currently constructing the Gerald Desmond Bridge in Long Beach.

“Lane has a successful track record for similar projects on the East Coast, including 395 and 495 Express Lanes in Virginia, and is excited to begin work in the highway and transportation sector on the West Coast,” said Robert E. Alger, president and ceo of Lane Industries.

“We also look forward to establishing a lasting relationship with the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority.”

Once completed, the I-10 project is expected to reduce traffic congestion, increase throughput, enhance trip reliability, and provide long-term congestion management of the corridor in the Inland Empire.

Last year, Lane Construction Corp. and Fluor Corp. were selected for the preliminary development of the Texas Bullet Train, a proposed 240-mile high-speed passenger rail line connecting Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston.
