Lane Construction lands $21.8M airfield upgrade contract

ConDig (20-Jul-17).  Lane Construction Corp has bagged a $21.8 million firm-fixed price contract to revamp airfields at Naval Air Station Oceana, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Under the deal, the Cheshire, Connecticut-based company will refurbish and replacement existing asphalt and portland concrete cement runway shoulder pavement, along with

electrical infrastructure such as vaults, manholes, conduits and wiring and lighting fixtures.

It also involves upgrading controls and equipment necessary for a complete and usable system for runways 5L/23R and 14R/32L.

Work on the project is expected to be completed by February 2019.

The contract with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command was competitively tendered through the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with one proposal received.

Earlier this month, a joint venture comprising of Lane Construction and Schiavone Construction secured a $232 million contract to replace the Unionport Bridge in Bronx County, New York.
