Blacksburg, South Carolina — USA Rare Earth Magnet Manufacturing Facility
USA Rare Earth has broken ground on an approximately $1.2 billion advanced rare earth metal and permanent-magnet manufacturing facility at Bailey Park in Blacksburg, Cherokee County, South Carolina.
The approximately 800,000-square-foot campus on 124 acres is expected to create about 490 high-skill manufacturing jobs and begin commissioning in 2028. The facility will produce neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets as part of USA Rare Earth’s domestic mine-to-magnet supply chain.
Clark Construction Group and Frampton Construction are serving as design-builder through the Clark/Frampton joint venture, with Trammell Crow Company as developer. McMillan Pazdan Smith is project architect.
Status: Construction started / groundbreaking September 2026.
Investment: Approximately $1.2 billion.
