ConDig (07-Nov–25) Swedish developer and contractor Skanska has been awarded a $63 million contract by Marion County Public Schools to construct Lake Weir Middle School in Ocala, Florida — a project aimed at addressing the region’s continued population growth and rising student enrollment.
The project will deliver a 14,500-square-meter (156,000-square-foot), three-story campus on a 12-hectare (30-acre) greenfield site. The new facility will feature 43 classrooms designed to accommodate more than 1,400 students, along with a gymnasium, auditorium, cafeteria, and extensive outdoor sports facilities for baseball, softball, soccer, and track and field.
Construction is set to begin in December 2025 and is scheduled for completion in June 2027.
Last month, Skanska Skanska inked a $175 million contract with Ridgeline Development Partners to build a mixed-use project in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.
Earlier in month, Skanska, in a joint venture with Railroad Construction Company, secured a $148 million contract from the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission to build a new standby power generation facility in Newark, New Jersey.
