Con Dig (12-Aug-26) — Swedish developer and contractor Skanska has secured two US construction contracts worth a combined $132 million, including a new medical office building for UNC Health in North Carolina and a public works operations campus for the City of Vancouver, Washington.

The awards, valued at $68 million and $64 million, respectively, will be included in the company’s US order bookings for the third quarter of 2026.

The larger award will see Skanska construct a new six-story, 191,000-square-foot medical office building and an 890-space parking deck in Durham, North Carolina, as part of a new greenfield campus for UNC Health.

The project also includes site development, infrastructure, early equipment installation and construction of the building’s core and shell. Skanska said the development will incorporate prefabricated building elements, including unitized curtain wall systems, prefabricated exterior wall cladding and off-site manufactured exam room pods, while establishing new design and construction standards for UNC Health’s outpatient facilities.

Construction on the medical campus began in June 2026 and is expected to be completed in April 2028.

In Washington state, Skanska will build a new Public Works Operations Campus for the City of Vancouver. The project includes 13 buildings totaling approximately 233,300 square feet of enclosed space, along with 36,100 square feet of covered parking.

Site work will include grading, retaining walls, utility installation, stormwater infrastructure, landscaping, site lighting and parking for staff, visitors and fleet vehicles. The campus is intended to improve operational efficiency for the city’s Public Works Department.

Preparatory work on the Vancouver project began in December 2025, with completion expected in July 2028.
