Skanska lands $58M expansion contract for Virginia data center

ConDig (09-Dec-25) Swedish developer and contractor has secured a $58 million contract from an existing client to complete additional interior construction at a large-scale data center project in Virginia.

The award, valued at about $58 million, will be booked in Skanska’s U.S. order intake for the fourth quarter of 2025.

The new scope covers the interior build-out of two remaining 4,300-square-meter data halls, enabling completion of the full 22,800-square-meter (245,000-square-foot) facility. The project represents the latest phase in Skanska’s ongoing work for the client, as Northern Virginia continues to see soaring demand for digital infrastructure tied to cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

Construction is already underway, with Skanska expecting to deliver the completed data center in the first quarter of 2027.

The company continues to be an active builder in the fast-growing data center market, particularly in Virginia’s globally significant “Data Center Alley,” one of the world’s largest server hub regions.
