ConDig (26-Apr-17). The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has issued 32 contracts for road upgrade projects across the state totaling $132.7 million.
The projects include resurfacing and maintenance of 346 miles of state highways across Georgia for a total of $90.5 million, which is broken out into 26 separate deals.
It includes a $22.9 million resurfacing of 6.6 miles on I-85 in DeKalb and Fulton. The joint resurfacing contract was secured by C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. and E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc., with completion slated for February 28 next year.
Georgia DOT said the largest single monetary investment is a $34.5 million contract for two miles of widening and reconstruction on SR 151/Alabama Highway in Catoosa County in Northwest Georgia.
It also involves two widened replacement bridges – one over I-75 and the other over South Chickamauga Creek — and the reconstruction of the existing I-75 at SR 151 interchange.
The contract was awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. of Marietta and completion is expected by December 31, 2020.
Other projects include a $3.3 million widening and reconstructing contract in Cordele that was awarded to Reeves Construction Co, Macon, with work expected to finish by November 30 next year.
