ConDig (11-May-17).  Los Angeles, California-based civil and building construction company Tutor Perini Corp (TPC) said subsidiary Tutor-Saliba Corp has successfully defended an appeal case related to a legal spat with developer Westgate Planet Hollywood.

The company said that the Supreme Court of Nevada backed the state’s lower court judgment and expects to receive a final award in excess of $20 million, including interest and recovery of certain attorneys’ fees and costs.

Tutor-Saliba Corp filed a foreclosure lawsuit against Westgate Planet Hollywood seven years ago in a bid to force the sale of the PH Towers Westgate in Los Vegas to meet a $19.3 million lien Tutor-Saliba had against the company, according to reports.

It came after Tutor-Saliba alleged the timeshare developer had failed to pay $19.3 million in construction costs.

The 52-story blue glass PH Towers Westgate was opened in December 2009 and features over 1,200 upscale villas ranging in size from 450 to 2,200 square feet, each complete with full kitchens; oversized jetted tubs; state-of-the-art room management and entertainment systems and views of the Las Vegas Strip.

Meanwhile, TPC also confirmed that its subsidiary, Lunda Construction, has secured a contract for the $322.7 million I-74 steel twin arch bridge replacement project in Iowa.

Earlier this month, the company said that Lunda was the apparent low bidder for the project.

Under the deal, TPC will build new twin bridges that will replace the existing twin arch bridge on the 1-74 in Iowa, Illinois.

Work on the Iowa Department of Transportation project is set to begin this summer, with substantial completion slated for the fourth quarter of 2020.
