ConDig (15-Mar-19). Five contractors, including Watsonville, California-based Granite Construction Co, are set to share in a $495 million deal to renovate airfields at several government installations across the country.
The other contractors include California-based Baldi Bros Inc, Coffman Specialties Inc and Pave-Tech Inc. Phoenix, Arizona-based Southwest Concrete Paving Co was also selected.
Under the deal with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, the contractors will design, build and supervise the construction, renovation and repair of airfield paving projects at various bases located in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.
Granite was awarded the initial task order of $10 million for the P-222 F-35 vertical landing pads and taxiway at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California.
Construction work on this project is expected to be completed by September 2020.
The airfield contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website with a total of nine bids received.
