Five contractors share the spoils of $240M Naval contract in Guam

ConDig (13-Jul-18).  Five contractors have been selected to share in a $240 million design-build construction contract for projects located primarily within the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Marianas, at the US Naval Base Guam.

The local companies appointed include Fargo Pacific Inc, Modern International Inc, Pacific Rim Constructors Inc, Reliable Builders Inc and Serrano Construction and Development Corp.

The term of the contract is not to exceed 60 months, with an expected completion date of July 2023, the US Navy said.

Fargo Pacific has been awarded an initial task order of $4.4 million to repair and modernize Bachelor Enlisted Quarters Building 582 at Camp Covington, Naval Base Guam. The project is expected to be completed by September next year.

The overall contract was competitively procured through the Navy’s website, with 29 bids received.

Last year, a joint venture partnership between Granite Construction Inc and Japanese construction company Obayashi Corp secured a $165 million design-build contract for a Marine Corps base in Guam.

Guam is a US island territory in Micronesia, in the Western Pacific.
