Granite bags $36M Interstate 15 upgrade contract in California

ConDig (09-Jun-17).  Watsonville, California-based Granite Construction Inc has secured a $36 million contract to revamp Interstate 15 in Nipton, California.

Under the deal with the California Department of Transportation, Granite will carry out earthwork, asphalt paving, bridge work and concrete paving. It will also construct five buildings along with related landscaping, striping, guardrail and fencing.

The company said the new facility is the second phase of the Joint Port of Entry project serving incoming traffic on southbound Interstate 15 into California from Nevada.

Construction is expected to start in the third quarter and is slated for completion by the second quarter of next year.

The deal comes on the heels of a $54 million contract Granite landed earlier this week to revamp the Sterling Highway in Sterling, Alaska.
