Silver Mountain Construction lands $17.9M contract to revamp F-35A training facility at Alaska airbase

ConDig (12-Jun-17).  Silver Mountain Construction LLC has flown off with a $17.9 million contract to revamp the field training facility for the F-35A Lightning II fighter jet at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska.

Under the firm-fixed-price contract with the US Army Corp of Engineers, the Palmer, Alaska-based company will renovate and build a new building to create the F-35A field training detachment facility required to support the maintainer training requirements for the F-35A fighter aircraft.

Work is expected to be completed by May 30 2019.

The Army Corps of Engineers received five bids for the firm-fixed-price contract via an online-based tender.

It comes as a joint venture comprising of Bethel Native Corp’s federal arm and Unit Company was awarded a $37.3 million contract last week to build a four-bay aircraft hangar at Eielson Air Force Base.

Work on the facility is expected to be completed by June 30 2019.
