ConDig (25-Jul-17). A joint venture between environmental remediation and infrastructure company Great Lakes E&I and geotechnical group Inquip Associates Inc has secured a $19.5 million firm-fixed-price contract to upgrade levees in Sacramento, California.
Under the deal with the US Army Corps of Engineers, work on the levee improvement project is set to be completed by May 30, 2019.
The US Army Corps of Engineers said that three bids in total were solicited and received through the Internet.
Earlier this month, the agency announced that construction of a section of the Marysville Ring Levee was underway and is set to be completed by mid-August this year in a bid to reduce flood risk in the northern California town of Marysville.
The contract was awarded to Patterson Taber General Engineering of Marysville.
The project includes stability berm construction, along with installation of small wells and equipment for future monitoring of the levee system.
The four-phase, $153 million Marysville project is slated to be completed in 2022 and is expected to lesson the flood risk for the historic town of 12,000 residents on the Yuba and Feather rivers.
