Rudolph and Sletten bags $960M UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital deal

ConDig (10-Sept-25)  Menlo Park, Calif.-based builder Rudolph and Sletten, a subsidiary of Tutor Perini Corporation, has secured a $960 million contract to construct the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland.

The project, designed by SmithGroup, will deliver a 277,500-square-foot hospital with seven stories above grade and a full basement level. Plans also call for a 269-space parking structure topped with a heliport, a site services trailer, and the demolition of three existing buildings to clear the site.

Construction is set to begin in September, with substantial completion targeted for 2031. The contract value will be added to Tutor Perini’s backlog in the third quarter of 2025.

The award advances Rudolph and Sletten’s role on the project, where the company has already been engaged in preconstruction work. The new facility is part of UCSF’s ongoing effort to expand pediatric care capacity in the Bay Area.

Last month,Tutor Perini subsidiary Lunda Construction Company nabbed a $60.2 million contract to serve as construction manager/general contractor for the Rothschild Dam modernization project in Wisconsin.
