ConDig (26-Aug-25) Lunda Construction Company, a subsidiary of Tutor Perini Corporation, has secured a $60.2 million contract to serve as construction manager/general contractor for the Rothschild Dam modernization project in Wisconsin.
The project, commissioned by Domtar Paper Company, LLC, carries a total estimated cost of $84 million, including Lunda’s contracted work and other related expenses.
Under the scope of the contract, Lunda will replace the existing timber dam in Rothschild with a modern concrete structure designed to improve safety, efficiency, and long-term resilience. The modernization effort involves river diversion through cofferdams, demolition of the current timber structure, installation of deep foundations, reinforced concrete placement, construction of a new control building, installation of a prefabricated bridge, and fitting of new dam gates.
Work began in July, with substantial completion slated for early 2029.
The Rothschild Dam upgrade represents a significant infrastructure investment for the region, enhancing water control and supporting industrial operations tied to Domtar’s facilities, according to the company.
Last month, Perini Management Services, another subsidiary of Tutor Perini, started work on two federally funded infrastructure projects with a combined contract value of $48.9 million.
