Skanska chalks up $57M Texas school contract

ConDig (08-July–22).  Swedish developer and contractor Skanska has netted a $57 million contract to build a middle school in Bulverde, Texas.

Under the deal with the Comal Independent School District, the company will build a middle school complex, sports field, water detention basin, water storage tank, and associated driveways and utilities within a 40-acre tract of land.

Work is expected to start in September this year and earmarked to reach completion in September 2023.

Skanska said the 15,800-square meter middle school, Comal Middle School #8, will support 1,100 students in Comal ISD and provide relief to adjacent schools experiencing continued enrollment growth.

In April, Skanska signed a $78 million deal to renovate and expand an acute care services facility in Midlothian, Virginia.

In January, Skanska drove off with a $1.09 billion contract for the Portal North Bridge replacement scheme in New Jersey. The contractor said it had signed the deal with NJ TRANSIT as part of a joint venture with Traylor Bros Inc. The total contract is worth $1.56 billion.

In December, Skanska announced that it had spun off its office building Two Drydock in Boston for $234.5 million.
