ConDig (11-Oct-18). Developer and contractor Skanska has signed an additional contract worth $36 million for the third phase of the Health Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute in Tampa, Florida.
Under the deal with University of South Florida (USF), Skanska will build a 37,000-square-meter facility, including auditorium and classroom space, clinic areas and scientific laboratories, for the new USF medical campus.
The contract is for the third phase of the scheme and follows Skanska’s previously announced $63 million deal to build the Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute.
Construction work kicked off in August last year and is slated for completion in late 2019.
It comes as Skanska announced last week that it had secured a $76 million contract to revamp the Manhattan Bridge in New York City.
The latest deal marks a fruitful period for Skanska after announcing last week that it had secured a $131 million deal to manage the construction of a new campus at Collin College in Wylie, Texas.
This deal came on the heels of a $111 million contract to upgrade a 200,000-square-foot academic building in Connecticut and a $52 million deal to construct a sciences building at the WSU Pullman campus in Pullman, Washington.
