ConDig (17-Mar–25) Swedish developer and contractor Skanska has inked a $72 million contract with Northern Kentucky University (NKU) to expand and renovate the Dorothy Westerman Herrmann Science Center.
The project, part of Skanska’s first-quarter 2025 US order bookings, includes a 79,925-square-foot addition to the existing science center. The expansion will consolidate multiple academic disciplines into a centralized STEM facility, housing the biological sciences, physics, geology & engineering technology, chemistry & biochemistry, and engineering technology departments.
In addition to the new construction, minor renovations will be made to the existing facility.
Site preparations for the project kicked off in October 2024, with major construction set to start in the first quarter of 2025. The project is slated to be completed by August 2027.
