Con Dig (03-Jul-26) Swedish developer and contractor Skanska has secured a $94 million contract to build a new data center in Virginia as demand for digital infrastructure continues to drive construction activity across the United States.

The company said the contract was awarded by an existing client and will be included in Skanska’s US order bookings for the second quarter of 2026.

The project includes construction of a 210,000-square-foot (19,500-square-meter) data center featuring four data halls, as well as associated site work and underground utility infrastructure.

The facility will be the second building developed on the data center campus.

Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with completion expected in May 2028.

The award adds to a growing pipeline of data center projects across the US as cloud computing, artificial intelligence and increased digital demand continue to fuel investment in large-scale technology infrastructure.
