Skanska top of the class for $70M university redevelopment

ConDig (25-Jul–23) Swedish developer and contractor Skanska has bagged a $70 million contract to revamp Clayton University Center’s campus in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The 9,200 square-meter redevelopment of the existing University Center includes electrical service, mechanical systems, as well as the installation of a full fire protection system.

In addition, the project will revamp gathering spaces, offices, meeting rooms, lounge areas, and replace all doors and windows as well as the slate and copper roofing systems.

Skanska said the renovation project will maintain the historic features of the building including the millwork and wood panelling, custom window design, stained glass windows, and interior stone walls.

The redevelopment scheme work is underway and the project is expected to be completed in December of 2024.

Earlier this month, Skanska landed a $91 million deal to expand a hospital in Portland and Skanska secured a $109 million contract to build a hospital in Lakeland, Florida.

Last month, Skanska secured a $311 million deal to build a residence and campus center for a university in Boston.

In April, the company bagged a $67 million supplemental contract for a manufacturing facility in the western United States.
