Tutor Perini bags $189.4M viaduct replacement deal in Baltimore

ConDig (07-Nov-17).  Civil, building and specialty construction company Tutor Perini Corp has landed a $189.4 million contract to replace a large elevated section of Interstate 895, known as the Canton Viaduct, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Under the deal with the Maryland Transportation Authority, the Los Angeles, California-based company will remove and replace about 3,200-foot-long bridge structure on the north side of the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, as well as tunnel rehabilitation.

Construction work on the project is slated to start in March next year with substantial completion scheduled for June 2021.

Tutor Perini reported net income for the three months ended June 30 of $30.1 million compared with $21.4 million for the second quarter of last year.

Revenue was $1.24 billion compared with $1.3 billion a year earlier, while project backlog was $7.6 billion, up 21% compared with $6.2 billion as of the end of December.
