Tutor Perini JV drives off with $239M highway upgrade project in Minnesota

ConDig (04-Aug-17).  A joint venture team led by a Tutor Perini Corp (TPC) subsidiary, Lunda Construction Co, has been selected for a $239 million contract to revamp I-35W and Lake Street in Minnesota.

Under the deal with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the team, which also comprises of Ames Construction and Shafer Contracting Co, will upgrade highway and access points along a 4.5-mile stretch of I-35W south of downtown Minneapolis.

The scope of work includes the construction of 23 bridges, 64 cast-in-place retaining walls, grading, drainage, concrete paving and related structures.

Work is expected to start this month with substantial completion slated for the fall of 2021.

Tutor Perini, which is a Los Angeles, California-based civil and building construction company, said the contract value is expected to be included in the company’s reported third quarter backlog.
