ConDig (25-Feb-19). A joint venture led by civil contractor and construction materials producer Granite Construction Inc has secured a $21 million contract to revamp aging sewer infrastructure in Atlanta, Georgia.
Under the deal with the City of Atlanta, the joint venture, which includes T&J Industries Development & Contracting Inc, will replace or repair 50,000 linear feet of small diameter sanitary sewer pipes situated in the Sugar Creek Sewer Basin and located in about ten sewersheds.
Granite Inliner, a division of Granite’s newly formed water and mineral services group, said that its trenchless process of a cured-in-place pipe will allow the city to repair underground piping with minimal disruption to the public.
Construction on the project started in January and is slated to be completed in February 2020.
“This award highlights the significant opportunities for our Granite Inliner business as well as the overall growth prospects in the rehabilitation, water and wastewater markets provided by our recent acquisitions,” said James H. Roberts, president and chief executive officer of Granite.
Last week, Granite said it had bagged a $22 million deal to revamp Highway 1 in Santa Cruz, California.
In December, Granite secured a $50 million highway revamp contract in Silver Springs, Nevada.
