ConDig (20-Jun-19). Civil contractor and construction materials producer Granite Construction Inc has landed a $39 million contract to revamp the Lewisville Dam in Lewisville, Texas.
Under the deal with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Watsonville, California-based contractor will carry out upstream embankment modifications, crest road improvements, and conduit filter and waterline relocations. It will also construct seepage collection systems and improve the roadway system.
Construction is slated to begin in summer 2019 and is expected to be completed in spring 2021.
The project is the next step in the USACE’s program at the Lewisville Lake Dam to continue safe and effective functionality of the dam’s authorized capacity.
Granite said it had a 40-year working relationship with the USACE and is currently constructing the $75 million Addicks and Barker Dams project near Houston.
In February, a joint venture led by Granite Construction Inc secured a $21 million contract to revamp aging sewer infrastructure in Atlanta, Georgia.
Granite said it had bagged a $22 million deal to revamp Highway 1 in Santa Cruz, California, also in February.
In December, Granite secured a $50 million highway revamp contract in Silver Springs, Nevada.
