ConDig (13-Oct-22) Swedish developer and contractor Skanska has snagged a $150 million contract to reconstruct and rehabilitate the Williamsburg Bridge in New York.
Under the deal with the New York City Department of Transportation, Skanska will oversee structural steel repairs throughout the bridge superstructure, including floor beam repairs, a transit hanger retrofit and temporary jacking system.
It also involves gusset plate repairs, truss bottom chord repairs, top and bottom lateral bracing strengthening, overhead truss diagonal replacements, intermediate towers repairs and transit stringer repairs.
Work on the project will kick off this month and completion is earmarked for December 2025.
Earlier this month, Skanska landed a $72 million contract to expand a health and wellness facility in New Jersey.
Skanska said it had secured a $58 million contract to construct an ambulatory care cancer center in Livingston, New Jersey.
In January, Skanska drove off with a $1.09 billion contract for the Portal North Bridge replacement scheme in New Jersey.
