Skanska secures $61M deal to build university dormitories in North Carolina

ConDig (30-Nov-17).  Developer and contractor Skanska has been awarded a $61 million contract to build dormitories at Duke University, North Carolina.

Under the deal, the company will build a residence hall at the Hollows West Campus that will consist of two six-story buildings, which will house about 500 students and resident assistants in suite-style dormitories.

The 24,500 square meter residence hall will also feature a series of common lounges with full kitchens and dedicated study rooms. The residence hall project will be seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification.

Work on the project is already underway and is expected to be complete in July 2019.

Earlier this month, a joint venture led by Skanska secured a $93 million contract to build two schools in Cincinnati, Ohio.
