Skanska secures $834M highway upgrade deal

ConDig (05-Sept–23) Swedish developer and contractor Skanska has driven off with a $834 million contract to revamp and expand the I-405 corridor in Bothell, Washington.

Under the deal with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), the contractor will create a dual express toll lane (ETL) system from south of the I-405/SR 522 interchange to the I-405/SR 527 interchange. 

The project also includes building new lanes, direct access ramps, interchange improvements, infrastructure in support of Stride Bus Rapid Transit program, and new fish passage culverts within the project vicinity.

Construction is slated to start in November this year and completion scheduled in late 2028.

In July, Skanska bagged a $70 million contract to revamp Clayton University Center’s campus in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Earlier in July, Skanska landed a $91 million deal to expand a hospital in Portland and Skanska secured a $109 million contract to build a hospital in Lakeland, Florida.

The month prior, Skanska secured a $311 million deal to build a residence and campus center for a university in Boston.

In April, the company bagged a $67 million supplemental contract for a manufacturing facility in the western United States.
