ConDig (04-Oct-17). Developer and contractor Skanska has landed a $151 million deal to expand and upgrade Portland International Airport, Oregon.
Under the deal with the The Port of Portland, the company will carry out a 250 meter long two-story expansion of Concourse E, including the addition of six additional gates.
The project will also feature airside sitework, modifications to baggage handling systems and various renovations within the existing terminal.
Construction on the project has already started and is scheduled for completion in 2020.
Skanska said the project aims to increase the efficiency of airport operations, prolong the longevity of existing terminal facilities, increase the seismic resiliency of the concourse and enhance the level of service for passengers.
In July, Skanska reported that write downs of about SEK 780M ($50.3 million) in its US civil division pushed its overall total operating income down to SEK 1.5 billion in the second quarter of this year from SEK 1.7 billion a year earlier.
